President Peter Mutharika on Sunday asked Blantyre City Council and National Council of Sports to allocate two sites for construction of two stadiums; one for Be Forward Wanderers and another for Nyasa Big Bullets (NBB).

He said this in Blantyre when he toured the city.

He told a gathering that he equally loves the two teams but said it is sad that the teams do not have own stadiums.

“I know the youth love Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers; me too I love them very much. I now ask you Blantyre City Council, National Council of Sports and Ministry of Sports to come together and allocate land for construction of the stadiums for the two teams. We will do that,” he said.

The two teams are largest crowd pullers in the country and sworn rivals on the pitch.

Bullets are the current champions of Malawi’s elite league, TNM Super League and Wanderers are the runners up.

NBB are sponsored by Nyasa Manufacturing Company, manufacturers of cigarettes and other products, whilst the Nomads are sponsored by Be Forward, a Japanese car importer.

However, both teams have no own pitches.
