Nyasa Big Bullets (NBB) and Be Forward Wanderers have trashed claims by some people that President Peter Mutharika’s directive to construct them stadiums is politically motivated.

Bullets Chief Executive Officer, Fleetwood Haiya, and Wanderers General Secretary, Mike Butao, wonder why people are connecting the issue to politics.

The two say that government constructed stadia for Silver Strikers and Civo Sporting Club in Lilongwe.

They said this on Tuesday when they held a joint press conference at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre to react to the presidential directive.

On Sunday, Mutharika asked Blantyre City Council, National Council of Sports and Ministry of Sports to allocate two sites for the construction of the stadia for the two teams.

He was speaking in Blantyre when he toured the city, saying it was sad that the two teams that have a large following among the youth have no stadiums.
