Silver Strikers Football Club have warned teams competing in the next season of the TNM Super League that they will be no walkovers.

The central bankers have secured services of a third player, Jack Chiona, formerly of Dwangwa United as the shopping window yawns on the local football scene.

General Secretary Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda told Zodiak Online that Chiona has been taken aboard on a three-year contract to beef up the striking force.

“We said it at the beginning that this is not the end or the beginning, but the beginning of the beginning. Chiona will be a Silver Strikers player from now up to 2021.

“Contractual issues are confidential but we have agreed with Dwangwa United that they will retain 20 percentage of a transfer fee in case Mr. Jack Chiona is transferred to another club within or outside the country,” said Nyirenda.

Nyirenda warned other teams that the three signings made so far they mean serious business come next season.

“We want to win cups and the league. We want to bring back the lost glory and winning ways we were associated with. That is what I can promise our supporters and all those who sympathize with us,” he said.

Silver Strikers finished third in the last season’s TNM Super League with 61 points.

The signing of Chiona follows that of Mphatso Philemon from Blue Eagles and Lazarus Nyemera from Mzuni FC.
