It’s almost five years since the Katsekela Community Day Secondary School Girls Hostel Project in Ntcheu started but Zodiak can reveal the project is failing to be completed, leaving communities with no clue on when the project will be completed.

Chairperson for the project, Nazaliyo Linyenga, told Zodiak Online that community hopes of having a girls’ hostel at the school are now shattered.

He says the delay violates girls’ right to education as they were supposed to benefit from the structures once completed.

"Despite several engagements with both Ntcheu District Council and contractor, nothing has worked to our advantage," he said.

Ntcheu District Commissioner Smart Gwedemula said nobody has come in the open to tell him what actually went wrong for the project to stall.

The Local Development Fund (LDF) bankrolled project was supposed to be completed within 90 days.
