Women independent shadow councilors in Mzimba have teared into the 5050 Campaign Agency for failing to honor promises that they will refund their nomination fees and provide them with fuel coupons to ease challenges they face along the campaign trail.

One of the councilors, Ida Tembo who is running on an independent ticket, said even if the assistance would come in now, it would not make any difference in their campaigns as time has already run out.

Another independent candidate, Bekiwe Shumba, said she has lost hope in being assisted by Agency and she is now managing her campaign on her own.

Rose Lusungu Kaponda of Mabulabo north ward trashed the Agency for making a lot of noise but failing to walk the talk on the ground.

The Agency’s Program Manager, Viwemi Munthali, said the exercise has now been rolled out attributing the delays in getting accurate data on details of the concerned shadow councilors.

He said the funds are coming from the United Nations.
