The UNDP has reaffirmed its commitment towards Inclusive digital transformation by providing an opportunity the citizenry to participate fully in the digital economy.

UNDP deputy resident representative Challa Getachew made the sentiments in Lilongwe on Thursday during a project validation workshop with key stakeholders on Inclusive Digital Transformation for Malawi (IDT4M).

According to Getachew extensive consultation process spearheaded by the UNDP Global Chief Digital Office will serve as a platform to disseminate emerging concepts in digital transformation.

"We believe the initiative will provide an opportunity to gather valuable opinions, suggestions, and recommendations for developing a new programme in partnership with Malawi Government in advancing an inclusive digital transformation process," Challa said.

Director General for the Malawi Communication Regulatory Authority (MACRA) Daud Suleman, says the validation workshop is key for Malawi in the attainment of a digital economy.

"We need to involve all the players that are connected to this digital transformation for Malawi to meet the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals," Suleman added.

The National Registration Bureau and UNDP have been working closely together to develop the project on Inclusive Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to stimulate economic activities in the digital era and bring about transformative changes in economies.
