Angry students at Khola Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Ntcheu on Wednesday damaged school property including the headteacher's house.

The school's Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) Treasurer Augustine Gawanika told Zodiak Online that the students rioted over the institution's management allegedly failed to timely refer one of them to Kasinje Health Centre.

"They have damaged school property which include a water reservoir tank, window glasses for the classroom blocks, staff room and headteacher's office among others," he says.

Gawanika says so far lessons have been disrupted due to the damages caused adding that the student in question is feeling better.

"Currently, police are providing security to ensure the school's property is safe," he added.

Ministry of education spokesperson Mphatso Nkuonera has asked for more time before comment on the matter.

Last month, students at Nachitheme and Ntcheu secondary schools in the district also separately damaged school property resulting in the Ministry of education to indefinitely close the two institutions.
