MRCS Director of Programs, Prisca Chisala, who was speaking after monitoring some of the interventions the organization is implementing in Mangochi to get feedback said the process will assist them to go back and come up with new strategies.
“When we were starting responding to covid-19 issues, the cases were very few. Now the cases are increasing day by day and in our programing we are not going to take business as usual but to change strategies to counter the current situation,’’ said Chiala
Chisala, for example said, the organization was using the mobile cinema to mobilize people and disseminate information which they thought will work, only to see that it is not due to issues of social distancing as it was pulling a huge audience which were becoming difficult to control.
“Now we are making sure that we should take onboard lessons learned in the implementation of the previous phase and also looking at the current emerging issues because we will need evidence and data in our new interventions”.
Cluster Manager for FDH Bank in Mangochi, Henderson Mkandawire, where MRCS also extended its interventions commended them for their interventions saying they are really giving them a hand in terms of preventive measure.
Mkandawire said they used to meet resistance in the early stages, but now the messages are sinking in the people’s minds that the only small resistance remaining is social distancing when the cloud is too much.
Apart from the banks, Chisala also met vendors in the market, visited the mosque and inspected the renovation work of standard emergency treatment center for covid-19 the organization is doing at the districts hospital.
