Assemblies Of God Clergy Pledges to Pray for Chakwera
The clergy in the Assemblies of God Church have offered to relentlessly pray for President Lazarus Chakwera and his administration to fulfill their development agenda and campaign promises.
President of the Malawi Assemblies of God, Bishop Andrew Dube, said this on Sunday at Assemblies of God Church in Nkolokosa township in Blantyre, where president Chakwera and the first lady worshipped.
The church leaders said among others, the prayers will seek to rebuke the spirit of corruption and wanton expenditure by public officials, which is otherwise impeding on the county's development growth.
"There are men and women who are patriotic to this country but what Malawians need your excellency is that we must rid ourselves of corruption, the spirit of laziness, wanton expenditures and political bias, if we can get rid of these, Malawi can develop," he said.
Dube also emphasized that they have confidence in Chakwera and that their Church and other Christians will be praying for the state president and his vice, Dr. Saulos Claus Chilima for the fulfillment of their dreams to transform the country.
President chakwera who was once the President of the Assemblies of God before venturing into politics paid a visit to the church in Nkolokosa Blantyre with the first lady, Monica Chakwera and other government officials where he offered 1 million kwacha and made promise to help in developments taking place at the church.
