Extensively Damaged Muloza Police Post Operating at 75%

Deputy Commissioner of Police for the South East Region Stain Bamusi Chaima says Muloza police post in Mulanje is currently operating at 75% following its extensive damage by the Tropical Cyclone Freddy in March this year.

Chaima disclosed this on Wednesday when police officers from Limbe distributed relief items to officers at the police post who were affected by the disaster.

“After the cyclone, senior government officials including the head of state visited this police formation and they appreciated the situation and I am sure they will consider the relocation of the formation to safer area,” said Chaima.

Meanwhile, Muloza Officer-In-Charge at the police post Superintendent Hamilton Chinthochi concurred with Mr. Chaima on the relocation issue especially the staff houses, saying the current place has turned to be a disaster-prone area.

“We lost everything in our houses, office furniture was damaged and our vehicle was in mud and I am not sure if it we successfully repaired,” said Chinthochi.

Limbe Police Station Officer Assistant Commissioner Thandiwe Mwalwenje said though it has taken long after the disaster hit their fellow officers, they decided to offer them support using offerings they collect during their Wednesday prayers.

“We are still sympathizing with our colleagues here and we will continue praying for them so that one day their lives should come back to normal,” said ACP Mwalwenje.

Among the items distributed included soap, sugar, blankets and buckets.
