A charitable organization Operation Smile Malawi says it has reached 38 people who were affected by Tropical cyclone Freddy with food and iron sheets to help them recover from the shocks.

Regional Patient Coordinator for the South, Brenda Liposa , has told Zodiak Online Thursday that survivors of the disaster are still going through trauma hence the need for periodic support.

Liposa said the 38 include patients who receive support from the organization and volunteers that were recently affected by cyclone Freddy in the southern region.

“We are upbeat that they will use these items for the intended purpose since this is what they had asked for when we approached them, “said Liposa.

One of the beneficiaries, Loveness Mphita, has applauded the organization for the support, adding it will cushion them from the hunger necessitated by cyclone Freddy.

“Currently, a 50 kilogram bag of maize is pegged at K40, 000.00 and with the support of two bags I am relieved now,” said Mphita.

Mphita has since ruled out the possibility of selling items which she has received saying she is passing through difficult times after cyclone Freddy swept her maize field.

Some of the items donated include, maize, iron sheets, hoes, blankets and torches.
