Green cited long distances and frequent school withdrawals due to lack of fees as hindrances to her studies.

The provision of a bicycle and a bursary by OXFAM significantly enhanced her academic dream.

Speaking to Zodiak Online on Tuesday, Green expressed her aspiration to become a nurse, and she is optimistic about realizing her dream with the educational materials provided by Oxfam.

"I am grateful for the educational support; I used to miss morning lessons due to late arrivals and faced challenges walking long distances," said Green.

She noted that, prior to receiving the bursary, she was among the top ten students, but in the recently concluded term, she secured the third position.

Chiringa Community Day Secondary School's Headteacher, Evance Kalulu, told Zodiak Online that Oxfam's bursary is significantly aiding students at the school.

Currently, 40 students benefit from the bursary, with 21 girls and 19 boys.

"The interventions by Oxfam in collaboration with the Centre for Victimized Women and Children (CAVWOC) are enhancing the academic performance of students at this school," stated Kalulu.

He added that several students in the top ten are beneficiaries of the bursary.

Oxfam, in collaboration with the Centre for Alternative for Victimised Women and Children (CAVWOC), and with support from Medicor Foundation and Oxfam Hong Kong, is implementing the 'Support for Girls and Other Vulnerable Children in Malawi' project in Balaka and Phalombe districts.

As part of this initiative, Oxfam is providing bursaries, menstrual hygiene kits, bicycles for improved mobility, and essential school supplies including uniforms and textbooks. Additionally, the project aims to break barriers hindering boys and girls education.
