There are fears that Grengary primary school in Thyolo might be permanently closed following the growing vandalism of property by the thieves.

Thyolo district commissioner Rosemary Nawasha has today referred us to the Director of education, Chrissy Chinsale who has declined to comment on the matter.

However, Zodiak Online understands that for some time now, the school located in the Comforzi Plantation Limited estate, has suffered massive vandalism ranging from infrastructure to teaching and learning materials.

And last week, the thieves reportedly broke into the school's office where they went away with various items.

This has now forced the school's authorities to keep the remaining school items such as desks at the district education office and nearest Mpinji primary school.

The district's police deputy spokesperson, Sergeant Rabecca Kashoti, said they received a report on the matter on Wednesday, but indicated that no one has been arrested so far.

It has also been established that prior to the closure of the last academic calendar, Thyolo district education authorities also transferred to other schools most of the teachers from the school.
