The community’s president Henry Mkumbira Phiri says it is for this reason that they held a Gala Night last Saturday to recognize children who excelled in various areas.

“This is an award ceremony which acknowledges excellence among the Malawian community in Ireland. It aims at promoting and preserving culture among them and also encourages hard work and resilience,” he said.

19 children participated in the competition but only 3 made it to the finals.

Zoey and Zara Kadango were winners of the 2023 AMAI Kids Got Talent.

The Gala also recognized other people such as Kenneth Mvula as Business/Entrepreneur man of the year, Memory Kazombo as ⁠Business/Entrepreneur woman of the year, Jayden Gama as Young Best Chess Player of the Tournament, Geoffrey Chimombo as Art/Media Award and Henry Mkumbira Phiri as Personality of the year.
