New Fish Disease, EUS, Spreads to Agriculture Extensions in Mchinji

The outbreak of the new fish disease first discovered in Mchinji has now spread to all seven Agriculture Extension Planning areas in the district.

Deputy Director of Animal Health and Field Services, Dr. Gilson Njunga, says the latest survey by the Department of Animal Health and Field Service in the ministry of Agriculture finds that Epizootic Ulcerative Syndrome (EUS) has infected all rivers and fish ponds there.

However, our spot check in the district finds that people continue to sell fresh fish which Dr. Njunga says is a challenge his office has to deal with.
