Kalindo to Remain in Police Custody

Human rights activist Bon Kalindo will remain in police custody until December 15, 2023, when a magistrate in Mangochi will make a ruling on his bail application.

Kalindo, who was arrested on Friday in Zomba in relation to

demonstrations that happened in Mangochi on 30th November 2023, appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Muhammad Maxwell Chande on Friday morning.

Kalindo, who denied the charge of proposing violence, asked the court through his lawyer Smart Khalifa to give him bail but the magistrate reserved his ruling for December 15.
