Chakwera Criticized for Silence on Chilima Plane Crash Report

President Lazarus Chakwera has come under criticism for not making public a preliminary report on the plane crash that killed vice president Saulos Chilima and eight others.

The revelation that President Chakwera was furnished with a preliminary report by Germany investigators only came to light yesterday in an interview with Germany’s DW News in which he said it will be released at an appropriate time.

Legal expert Khumbo Soko says it is wrong for the president to keep under wraps an issue of national importance while governance expert Victor Chipofya says hiding public information is not health in a democracy.
