Greed Fueling Chieftaincy Wrangles

The Ministry of Local Government, Unity and Culture says greed is eroding the fabric and worthiness of the chieftaincy in the country as 15 royal families are currently in leadership disputes.

Deputy minister of Local government, Halima Daudi has advised local chiefs in the country to refrain from abusing their powers by indulging in active politics and acts of corruption as they are custodians of people from all political parties.

Brothers Killed Over Chieftaincy in DA

A 62-year-old man, Kakhomba Kenamu, who is group village headman Kakhomba, is said to have killed his 66-year-old brother, Kaponda kenamu, whom he had quarreled over the chieftaincy in Dowa district.
