ECO Bank, MASM Sign Digital Banking Partnership
EcoBank and Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) have signed a partnership in an effort to broaden access to digital banking to citizens in wake of the COVID 19.
The Bank’s Head of Corporate Banking, Weluzani Chingota, said he is hopeful that the platforms will enhance efficient and reliable payment system for the people in the country.
“Through this partnership, Ecobank is pleased to give our clients the power of choosing to pay their MASM subscriptions from a wide range of convenient payment channels for free.
“We believe that this partnership will go a long way in simplifying payment; thereby, making Ecobank the best payment bank in Malawi,” Chingota said.
He further stressed that the Ecobank Mobile App is also open for use to non-Ecobank clients who can self-register and open an Xpress account within a short time without visiting the branch.
“The beauty about it is that we make it easier and frictionless for people to join the bank. You can simply convert your cell phone number into a digital account called an Xpress account by simply downloading the Ecobank mobile app and self-register to open the account in no time without visiting the branch,” stated Chingota.
MASM Chief Commercial Officer, Bernard Ambali, said the partnership with Ecobank is in line with their objective of providing total convenience to their members.
“Considering the current COVID 19 situation, more innovative ways of doing business also help members to transact at the convenience of their homes or offices.
“I would therefore encourage all members to make full use of this payment platform as we continue to observe COVID 19 guidelines” Ambali explained.
The partnership comes when Covid 19 pandemic has forced the corporate world to develop and scale up innovative interventions to meet the needs of the citizens.
