A grouping calling itself Hora Road Construction initiators in Mzimba Hora Constituency have mobilised themselves to embark on rehabilitation of 24 kilometers earth road from Ngomiyawo to Mtantha turnoff to ease mobility challenges to health facilities surrounding the area.

Vice Chairperson for the grouping Henzire Nyirenda says, currently they have contributed K4.436 million of the targeted K7.5 million to complete the rehabilitation of the road. Nyirenda stressed their action follows failure by authorities to rehabilitate the road for the past 6 years.

Said Nyirenda "This road is very important as communities around here use it to access health care at either Mtende health center , Euthini health center or the main hospital at Mzimba boma unfortunately it is in bad shape as it was last rehabilitated 6 years ago"

Nyirenda said this compelled them to mobilize funds through contributions and hire a contractor to work on the road while setting their eyes on rehabilitating all the roads in Mzimba Hora constituency.

Said Nyirenda "We welcome all well wishers who may think of helping us in cash or kind so that we finish the project in time"

Vice Chairperson for Chindi area development committee Jekister Ngulube welcomed the move by the grouping saying authorities have not been forthcoming to rehabilitate the road.

Ngulube said the 24 kilometer stretch earth road was rehabilitated in 2012 and 2016 by former Member of Parliament now DPP governor for the North Rev Christopher Mzomera Ngwira in projects which were aimed at ensuring a good road network in his constituency.

Meanwhile to show her solidarity with the grouping DPP Member of Parliament for the area Martha Mzomera Ngwira has contributed K1 million to the cause with a pledge to continue supporting the initiative until the road rehabilitation project is completed.
