The two ministers, late Mohammed Sidik Mia and late Lingson Belekanyama succumbed to COVID-19 last month.
However, speaking to Zodiak Online, Presidential Spokesperson, Brian Banda expressed optimism that President Chakwera will make replacements to the vacant positions hence asked Malawians for patience.
"Powers to appoint or fire a Minister lies in the hands of a President. As such, President Lazarus Chakwera will make a decision on the same regarding the replacement of late Mia and late Belekanyama," he said.
Banda said the public will be updated on any new developments over the matter.
Meanwhile, Governance expert Wonderful Mkhutche says Malawians have to give the President time by considering the manner the two Ministers died.
"Let us give the President ample time as it is still early for him to make replacements. The two ministries have technocrats and can ably deliver while we wait for the new appointments," he said.
Until their deaths, late Mia was Minister of Transport and Public Works while late Belekanyama was Minister of Local Government.
