Speaking to Zodiak Online Tuesday, APAM President, Ian Simbota claims President Chakwera among others is failing to institute a commission of inquiry of finding markets for albino body parts per his promise last year.
"During campaign prior to Fresh Presidential Poll in June 2020, President Lazarus Chakwera promised to protect the rights of Persons with Albinism once elected.
However, almost nine months after ascending to the high Office, President Chakwera is yet to honor his promises," Simbota claimed.
According to Simbota, President Chakwera's silence over the matter is questionable.
He now fears the 134, 636 population of persons with albinism continues to be exposed to extinction in the country if swift action is not taken.
Presidential Aide on Persons with Disabilities, Overstone Kondowe referred us to Presidential Spokesperson, Brian Banda who was not immediately available for comment.
Since 2014, at least 175 human rights violation cases have so far been reported against Persons with Albinism in the country.
They include killings and abductions among others.
