Salima Sugar Company Limited has New Board

Shareholders of Salima Sugar Company Limited, which is under the Greenbelt Authority, have appointed a new board to oversee the operations of the company.

The new board according to a statement released tuesday signed by Greenbelt Authority chief executive officer Erick Dudley Chidzungu will be led by renowned lawyer Wester Peter Kosamu as its executive chairperson.

Chidzungu says the 11-member board which started its operations on 08th of April 2023, has already appointed Apoorva Roy as acting C.E.O for the sugar company.

"With the full responsibility for the leadership and development, the executive chairperson and the acting C.E.O will play a key role in meeting the company's growth goals in the Sugar Industry" reads part of the statement.

Before the new board took over, Salima Sugar Company Ltd had Shirieesh Betgrini as its chairperson.

Other members of the new board are Dr Betchani Tchereni, engineer Geoffrey Mamba, Erick Dudley Chidzungu and Dr Sakim Nikam just to mention a few.

The Green belt Authority runs Salima Sugar Company as a joint venture with AUM Sugar Limited.
