Nomale Challenges Constituents on Self Reliance
Member of Parliament for Chiradzulu East Constituency, Joseph Nomale has challenged people in his area to be self-reliant by engaging in various income generating activities and desist from depending on hand outs.
The parliamentarian made the call on Thursday at orthodox church in the area of Group Village Headman Masauli, Traditional Authority Sandalaki in the District when he presided over a livestock pass on program.
Over 60 households are currently benefiting from the program where they are being given either a goat or a cow and they are required to pass it on to another beneficiary once the livestock breads.
Jassey Kadewere who was given a dairy cow says her household has improved as she is now able to earn extra income through milk proceeds.
"My household has really improved. I am now able to feed my familly. Even when I harvest a little, I am still able to buy maize through milk proceeds. I can now afford to clothes and send my children to school", she said.
Traditional Authority Sandalaki also hailed the program saying it is improving livelihoods for most people in the area.
On his part , Parliamentarian for the area, Joseph Nomale said the program is meant to enable people in the area to become economically independent and desist from relying on hand outs.
Among others, the parliamentarian is also encouraging people in the area to form groups where they are being taught bee keeping and Mushroom farming
Commentators have been blaming politicians in the country for encouraging a dependency syndrome spirit among their electorates through issuance of handouts.
