Mother to the child, Hilda Geremu says she is unable to properly take care of her child who is both deaf and dumb apart from her being crippled as she only relies on farming.

Hilda says despite her child being of school going age , she is yet to start her primary school due to mobility challenges as she does not have a wheelchair.

“Being a single mum who only relies on farming am unable to support my child with school materials, apart from other basic needs”, said Catherine.

Meanwhile a local charitable grouping in the area ‘Friends of Mkalo' on Sunday cheered the girl where they provided her with assorted items such as maize flour, cooking oil, sugar and some clothes.

Chairperson for the grouping, Moffat Banda said they decided to cheer the girl as one way of alleviating her sufferings.

The grouping with financial assistance from well-wishers also cheered some other vulnerable people in the area like the elderly.
