Friends of Kamoto Donates Exercise Books, Food in Mulanje

A local grouping in Mulanje, Friends of Kamoto, has underscored the need to ensure that children are completing the education cycle.

Treasurer for the grouping, Willard Phanko, has told Zodiak Online Sunday that the group's research in the area of Kamoto established that most of the children are dropping out of school, owing to a lack of support and negligence.

Phanko said the group wants to work with parents, chiefs and other organizations to reverse the trend in the area of Group Village Headman Kamoto.

"Our research established that most of the school going children in our area are dropping out of school, so, this group wants to support and motivate these children not to relent," said Phanko.

He was speaking at Kamoto village under traditional authority (TA) Ndanga in Mulanje when the group donated exercise books to 56 standard five learners and provided maize flour to 28 households.

Ward councilor for Mombezi, Innocent Kaliati, hailed the organization for the move, adding it will motivate children in the area.

Kaliati said the he will continue supporting the group to achieve their goals.

Delipher Kankhaudzu, a standard five learner, described the support as timely.

Friends of Kamoto Group started in August 2023, with the aim to encouraging learners in the area to aim higher in their lives among goals.
