Chiradzulu Central Parliamentarian, McTimes Malowa has justified a K10 million zonal youth sports league initiative he has been implementing in his constituency amid concerns that such initiatives are misallocation of resources.

Speaking during the K2.5 million Maravi zone trophy finals on Sunday at Nguludi Secondary school, the parliamentarian reiterated that such initiatives offer the best platform where various needs of the youth and solutions are identified.

“In fact, we decided to come up with the K10 million youth bonanza after we had received a positive feedback from the youths themselves from the previous similar initiative we had.

“Through these initiatives we have managed to identify some vulnerable youths whom we have given some soft loans for them to venture into various businesses,” said Malowa.

Chairperson for Chiradzulu District Football Association, Black Hussein praised the initiative saying it has helped to unearth talents among the youth who are doing well in other football and netball elite such as the Castel and the football Association of Malawi (FAM) cup challenge.

During the Maravi zone trophy finals, Montfort stars emerged champions in the male football category after thrashing Mkasa FC 4-1 while St. Theresa Junior Sisters out classed their senior counterparts 28 - 17.
