Expected to hand out a total of 38 individual awards, this year's ceremony aims to spotlight excellence in seven distinct categories. The resurgence of the awards is seen as a significant step in supporting and promoting the diverse talents within the entertainment industry.

Malawi Broadcasting Corporation Director of News and Programs Zilani Khonje Phiri told journalists in Blantyre on Tuesday that nominations for the seven categories will be open from November 21st to December 5th. 

The seven categories up for contention in this year's awards include Music, Film, Drama, Media, Social Media, Poetry, and Sports. Additionally, organizers have introduced the much-anticipated "Entertainer of Entertainers" special category, set to recognize the pinnacle of entertainment excellence.

This revival of the Entertainers of the Year Awards serves as a platform to honor the remarkable achievements and contributions of individuals who have made a significant impact in their respective entertainment domains. As anticipation builds and nominations open, the industry eagerly awaits the crowning of this year's entertainment stars.

The state broadcaster started the Entertainers of the Year Awards in 1970, before taking a break in 2005.

This year, interested participants can submit their nominations through a convenient *364# USSD code, with each SMS nomination incurring a charge of MK50.
