ICTAM Deploys IT Specialists Amid Network Challenges in Elections

The ICT Association of Malawi (ICTAM) says it has deployed its technical experts in strategic areas across the country who are observing and compiling all technical issues affecting the current elections.

This comes as Malawians await for the results of Tuesday’s general elections, network glitches have become an issue in most parts of the country, affecting online transmission of results to district and constituency tally centers.

The association says it has placed a team of its experts in all regions of the country, including at the national tally center where they are observing the technical issues happening in the current elections.

Andrew Kamwendo, who is the General Manager for the Association, has expressed hope that stakeholders to the election will adopt the recommendations that will be made, which he hopes will help shape preparations for the next general election in line with the use of technology.

"We will develop recommendations that will be shared with those involved in  elections, so that they rectify such challenges in the next general elections, we are very committed to work as observers," said Kamwendo.

Publicity Secretary for the Political Science Association, Mavuto Bamusi, says the move is crucial in smoothing the elections process, making the results acceptable to all.

"Let me commend ICTAM for taking this bold step at this crucial time when the electoral process is facing network issues. We hope they will also take time to work together with the MEC technical team and rectify the challenges being faced, stakeholders should also draw lessons from the challenge," Bamusi.

Malawi adopted the use of technology in the 2025 tripartite election through the elections management devices provided by Smartmartc.
