An elective conference for the Political Science Association (PSA) took place in Salima on 26 and 27 September 2025.

The conference discussed the state of Malawi’s democracy and governance institutions.

The conference has since elected new office bearers led by Professor Michael Chasukwa of University of Malawi (UNIMA) as the new President.

He replaces Dr. Henry Chingaipe whose term of office has come to an end.

Governance expert Mavuto Bamusi has been elected as Secretary General (SG) while political analyst Dr. George Chaima is the new Publicity Secretary.

Other new office bearers include Catholic University of Malawi lecturer Ms Sainala Kalebe as Vice President; Dr. Clemence Alfazama as Treasurer General, and Mzuzu University lecturer Dr. Chrispine Mphande as executive committee member together with Professor Nandin Patel and Ms Beauty Phiri.
