Despite individual members of the Tea Association of Malawi Limited (TAML) making their responses to the Tropical Cyclone Freddy, the organization on Thursday made a K12 million donation worthy of relief items to disaster affected smallholder tea growers and other affected households in Thyolo district.

Preliminary assessment by the Farmers Union of Malawi (FUM) indicates that over 15,000 hectares of crops were washed away by Tropical Cyclone Freddy induced floods.

Two human rights organizations, Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR) and Centre for the Development of People (CEDEP) have emphasized on the need to respect the rights of people in evacuation camps regardless of their sex.
