Members Protest Rev Gama’s Election as BT Synod GS

Divisions have emerged in the CCAP Blantyre Synod as some congregants say they will not remit their finances to the synod in protest to Reverend Dr. Billy Gama being the synod’s General Secretary (GS).

Inside sources have confided in Zodiak that many churches have stopped contributing their finances to the synod since gama’s elections in August this year.

“They are not happy having Dr. Billy Gama as the synod’s General Secretary,” said one of the sources.

The source added that this started during election period where congregations mainly in the Blantyre City Presbytery were in disagreement with Dr. Gama being one of the contestants at the position of the General Secretary.

Dr. Gama has trashed the reports, saying he is yet to notice any changes in terms of contributions from churches.

“So far I have not received any report that others are not contributing and that the record I have is that all the congregations are submitting, only that sometimes others may not reach their target,” he said.

He has described the reports as unrealistic.

“All the congregations are contributing, others are contributing more, others are still struggling and so far we can’t point that some are not honoring their pledges because I am the General Secretary. That is not true,” he said.
