Malawi to Host 2023 IVETA TEVET Conference

The Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training Authority says over 50 countries are expected to participate in International Vocational Education and Training Association (IVETA) world conference slated for Lilongwe this November.

Director of Corporate Affairs Department for the Authority Lewis Msasa has told ZBS that the international conference will bring together experts in vocational skills education that would help Malawi’s Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational training to grow further.

"These countries are expected to participate in the Mangochi conference this November and this will be a game changer in promoting Malawi’s development blueprint, the agenda 2023,” said Msasa.

The Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training Authority says this year’s International Vocational Education and Training Association (IVETA) TVET World Conference will be the second of its kind to take place in Malawi after the first one was held in 2012.

Economic expert Dr. Betchani Ntcheleni feels such conferences are beneficial to countries like Malawi where Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training uptake is still too low.

Dr. Ntchereni said: "these conferences help people to understand why governments are promoting vocational skills education. These trainings have a good history of promoting economies of countries such that Malawi stand to benefit a lot.”

IVETA is an organization and network of vocational educators, practitioners, researchers, vocational and skills development and training organizations, business and industrial firms, and other individuals and groups interested or involved in vocational education and training, and skills development worldwide.
