MEC Chief Elections Officer, Sam Alfandika, says the event will be held at Mount Soche Hotel.

Alfandika says in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, “only 20 delegates, including candidates and running-mates will be allowed entry into the hall.

“All other preventive measures as announced by the ministry of health will also be strictly observed.”

He has called upon political party leaders to advise their followers not to accompany them to the papers’ presentation in view of the COVID-19.

Malawi will on 2 July, 2020 hold Fresh Presidential Election following nullification of last year’s presidential elections.

Malawi Congress Party president, Lazarus Chakwera, and his UTM counterpart, Saulos Chilima, successfully challenged the polls’ results in court, citing massive irregularities.

MEC declared President Peter Mutharika of the Democratic Progressive Party winner of the nullified elections.

MEC and Mutharika appealed the ruling at the Supreme Court of Appeal.
