The district's police spokesperson sergeant Cosmas Kagulo has identified the deceased as Pemphero Zakeyu who is suspected to have committed suicide Tuesday night at Kambalame Village near Kanje Primary School in the district.

"Investigations have shown that the man had rented K50 000 to his sister, Eliza Zakeyu. Upon failing to recover the money from his sister despite several attempts, the man went missing on Monday until Tuesday when he was found lying dead along chitseketsa stream", said Kagulo.

Medical post-mortem confirmed that the man had consumed some poisonous stuff.

He hailed from Kambalame Village, Traditional Authority Likoswe in the district.
