Thyolo district hospital has now rectified the blocked sewer system which was producing bad smell for the past four months.

This comes after Zodiak Online published the story some three weeks ago when the surrounding community and health workers complained that the system was a source of discomfort.

"Let me thank you for bringing this issue out. They have now fixed the problem," said one of the nurses.

One official at the hospital's maintenance department has also confirmed the development "we have covered all the holes now".

The situation affected areas such as, the nurses' hostels, the borehole and emergency ward.

Thyolo district director of health and social security, Dr. Arnold Arnord Jumbe said the system needed a holistic approach to rectify as it had blocked due to vandalism of equipment such as, the manhole covers.
