Ndirande Trust PLC Takes Shape

Member of parliament for Blantyre Malabada Constituency in Blantyre, Ismail Mkumba has intensified efforts to popularise his dream to set up a public Limited Company in the area among his electorates.

The move is in a bid to raise funds for implementation of various development projects in the area.

Disclosing this to Zodiak on Thursday the when he toured a number of infrastructure developments he has constructed in the area using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), the Parliamentarian said so far about 20 people have already bought shares in the trust.

“The shares for the trust which is expected to be set up with a water bottling company to be launched soon are going at K100 thousand each with people also allowed to pay in instalments,” said Mkumba.

Among others the Ndirande Trust PLC will also comprise Ndirande Farms , an Agro value addition processing plant as well as a financial lending institution.

Denis Makata of the area who is also a representative of Village Headman Che Jenney has expressed optimism that the move is also going to offer employment opportunities mainly to the youths in the area.

Meanwhile Social Commentator Wonderful Mkhutche has hailed the move saying it is worth to be emulated throughout the country.

Members of parliament in the country are given 100 million kwacha annually for the implementation of various development projects in their areas which they argue is too little.
