21 Netted for Torching a Police Unit

Police in Ntchisi have arrested 21 people for being suspected of torching Malomo police unit in the district over blood-sucking rumours.

Ntchisi police publicist sub inspector, Richard Kaponda says of the arrested suspects 5 are women and 16 are men and have been arrested after police received a tip off from well wishers in areas the suspects were hiding.

"The suspects allegedly set ablaze the police unit on March 28 while baying for blood of a suspected blood sucker held in police custody," Said Kaponda.

All the suspects have been remanded to Ntchisi prison pending investigations and they will be taken to court soon to answer the charge of arson contrary to section 337 of the penal code.

According to police, the value of the damaged property is yet to be established.
