Hundreds of vulnerable children at Nsundwe in Lilongwe will have easy access to education as the LoveWorld through the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation - COFI has opened a newly constructed primary school in Chisikwa village in the area.
The educational facility will serve community members from 11 villages.
Commissioning the school Saturday, Minister of Basic Education Madalitso Kambauwa described the initiative as a major step in efforts aimed at improving educational standards in the country.
“This school complements our mission to provide a conducive learning environment for every child, especially in underserved areas,” said Kambauwa.
She appealed to community members surrounding the school to be in the forefront taking care of it.
Representing the foundation, Pastor Ose Oyakhilome said the organization is hopeful that provision of quality education can assist in empowering children and end poverty at the household level.
“Chisikwa becomes our 14th -100% free school globally — and a beacon of hope for this region”, added pastor Oyakhilome.
Senior Chief Kalolo of the area also expressed his excitement on the construction of the primary school.
The school will be offering free meals, spiritual programs and vocational trainings.
