The Global Hope Mobilization (GLOHOMO) has challenged district councils to include human trafficking activities in the district development plans (DDP) and Social Economic Profile (SEP) to easily secure funding to counter the vice.

GLOHOMO Programs Manager, Austin Dalabani, has told Zodiak Online on Monday that inclusion of such activities is key at a time most councils are grappling to eliminate the same.

Dalabani said most hotspots districts cannot secure funding to counter trafficking in persons because their development blueprints have not such activities.

"We want to see district councils taking on board human trafficking activities into DDP and SEP to help in averting the vice," said Dalabani.

Phalombe District Commissioner, Rodrick Mateauma, says the council is committed to ensure human trafficking issues are included in the district's development plan blueprint.

He said the move will help district councils to sustain trafficking in persons interventions once implementing partners phase out their projects.

River of Life Organization is implementing a two-year project in Phalombe district dubbed Tigwirane Manja Counter Trafficking in Persons with support from USAID through Global Hope Mobilization.
