Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) president Professor Peter Mutharika said he is certain to win the next year's elections to redeem the country from current social-economic misery.
Professor Mutharika has since called on the citizenry to register in large numbers to out-vote the current government.
He said this on Thursday during a whistle-stop tour at Weaving factory, Goliati Trading Centre, Thyolo boma and Bvumbwe after registering in the voters roll along with former First lady Gertrude Mutharika, where he stressed that no one will rig the polls.
"My comeback next year is to bail you out Malawians I know you are facing a myriad of challenges under this government. The Tonse government is rotten and has failed to govern; allowing prices of basic necessities to skyrocket besides hunger," he said.
On development, he said he will construct more road infrastructure across the country including completing the long-awaited Thyolo district council office complex and stadium, saying the current regime has failed to finalize them in five years.
Earlier, DPP regional governor for the south, Charles Mchacha said Malawians are in trouble under the current government.
"During the DPP regime, fuel was selling at K600 per litre, but now it's over K6, 000 on black market due to scarcity while a bag of maize is now going at K50,000 from K15, 000.
The former first couple registered at home village, Kamoto, Traditional Authority Chimaliro.
