Airtel Africa Foundation Targets 10 Million Lives with New 2030 Strategy

The Airtel Africa Foundation has launched an ambitious strategy to directly improve 10 million lives across the continent by 2030 through targeted interventions under four key pillars: Financial Empowerment, Education, Environmental Protection, and Digital Inclusion.

Chairman Dr. Segun Ogunsanya emphasized the transformative nature of the vision.

“We are building a pipeline of talent and fostering innovation to ensure the global digital revolution leaves no African behind," he stated. "This is a strategic commitment to unlocking the continent's demographic dividend."

The Foundation will execute this mission through programmes like 'Connecting Schools', which provides free connectivity and devices, and the 'Airtel Africa Fellowship', offering full undergraduate scholarships in tech and STEM fields with mentorship opportunities.

These efforts build on existing successes, including a partnership with UNICEF that has already connected over 1,800 schools and trained 17,000 teachers across 14 markets.

Airtel Africa CEO Sunil Taldar reinforced the company's commitment, noting, "We cannot thrive in a place that is not thriving. The Foundation is our vehicle to catalyse transformation by investing in the pillars that underpin a resilient society."

The initiative will leverage employee volunteers and expand across all Airtel Africa operating countries, with specific targets set for the 2025/26 financial year.
