Catholic Leaders in Luchenza Hail Women’s Fellowship for Strengthening Faith and Families

Leaders of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Luchenza, Thyolo, have commended women’s groups in the church for fostering unity and deepening both their spiritual and family lives.

The church chairperson, Alexander Katsabola, and catechist Matias Eluwa said the women’s gatherings are playing a vital role in nurturing Christian values and promoting peace within families.

Speaking on Sunday during the closing of a two-day fellowship with the St. Agnes Women’s Choir from Chilimba Parish in Blantyre, Katsabola said the meetings are helping women to grow in faith and moral discipline.

“These fellowships are not just about singing and praying,” said Katsabola. “They are about building one another spiritually and morally. Through these gatherings, our women are learning to support their families better and live out the true Christian life.”

On his part, Eluwa emphasized that the collaboration among women from different parishes is a good example of unity in the church, which reflects the love of Christ.

During the event, women from other denominations also joined and shared various gifts, demonstrating interfaith harmony and community spirit.

Elizabeth Dumbula, chairperson of the St. Peter’s Choir, said the relationship between St. Peter’s and St. Agnes began in 2019 with the aim of strengthening their Christian fellowship.

“Our friendship with St. Agnes started in 2019,” Dumbula explained. “It has helped us grow stronger in faith and encouraged us to serve the church with greater commitment. We have learned income generating activities for our group and the church at large”

Her sentiments were echoed by Florence Mtwalo, vice chairperson of the St. Agnes Choir from St Martin Catholic Church, who expressed optimism that the partnership will continue to flourish.

“This bond will continue as we keep serving God together,” said Mtwalo.

The two-day interaction was marked by worship sessions, gifts exchanges, choir performances, and spiritual discussions aimed at empowering women in faith and leadership within the church community.
