The Neno District Heath Office says it has registered 51 suspected Cholera cases at Zalewa in the area of Traditional Authority Symon since 18 March this year.
Neno District Health Office spokesperson Caroline Banda has told Zodiak Online today Tuesday, the cases are from Zalewa village and Quarry Site.
She said so far, they have intensified case management, contact tracing and follow ups, Pot to Pot Chlorination, community engagement and assessments to counter the disease to counter the infection.
" We started registering the cases at Muonekera Rest house area and now the cases have gone down to Zalewa village and Quarry site, the facility registering the cases is Zalewa Health Center and now it has three admissions,".
She added that the contributing factor to the cases is lack of piped water as the area has no Waterboard facility which force the community to depend on unprotected water sources.
The district cumulatively has 15 confirmed cases and 124 suspected cases with no cholera case confirmed death since last year when the disease resurfaced in the country.
But one suspected cholera patient (a woman) died at Chifunga area in the area of Senior Chief Mlauli last year.
