Man Jailed 15 Years for Defiling Minor, Infecting Her with HIV

Thyolo Senior Resident Magistrate Samir Uthman Muhammad has sentenced Chikumbutso Mujojo, 32, to 15 years in prison for having sex with aged 12 and infected her with Syphilis and HIV.

The court heard that the grandmother of the girl noted that the girl's health was deteriorating and decided to take her for a medical check-up where she was diagnosed with the STIs including HIV.

Upon asking her, she revealed that it was Mujojo who had been sleeping with her.

Meanwhile, the Thyolo Social Welfare Child Protection Officer, Victor Daudi has hailed the court for the judgement as it will act as deterrent to others as the cases are on the increase in the district.

Mujojo hails from Traditional Authority Mbawera in the district.
