As the FDH Bank Premiership gathers momentum, the gap between title contenders and struggling sides is becoming increasingly evident.
Distinctly, week Five delivered a mix of triumph and turmoil. While some sides continued their unbeaten march in impressive fashion, others remained lost in the wilderness, desperately searching for a winning formula amid mounting pressure and growing suspensions on the touchline.
Masters FC tops the table after collecting a full loaf of their points from three of its matches, seconded by silver strikers FC as blue Eagles slides third .
At the bottom end of the table , Goshen City Dedza Dynamos , Creck Sporting Club and Luanar Mitundu FC.
Dedza Dynamos still naked
The team is now in its fifth season in the elite league with a shrinking wound , failing to register a win or a single goal in their opening five matches.
Of the five games they have played , Dedza has drawn once and lost all four matches. Their only point emanated from a goalless draw against Mzuzu soldiers Moyale Barracks.
The Dynamos have suffered back to back defeats to Civil Service United, Red Lions , Blue Eagles FC, and just yesterday, the team was handed four goals by the anchors, Masters FC
The team has now conceded 10 goals, sitting at the bottom of the table.
Zodiak has established that the management has handed head coach Alex Ngwira and his technical panel a three-game ultimatum to improve the results. Ngwira's future remains at stake as his first game within the ultimatum produced poor performance.
In an interview, Dedza Dynamos Secretary Mavuto Migodi confirmed that Ngwira's three match ultimatum started last Sunday.
He said; "We have given the coach a three match ultimatum to win consecutively or else face a serious disciplinary action. His first match was the one he had with Masters FC."
When contacted, Ngwira promised to come back, but his phone was later out of reach until we went to press.
Dedza Dynamos' nightmare emanated from last season as the team seriously battled relegation.
Creck's survival concerns begin to surface as results keep slipping away
It has also been a nightmare start for Creck Sporting Club, who are still searching for their first win after five league matches.
Once drawn with MAFCO FC and Red Lions FC, the side went on to suffer defeats against Mighty Wanderers, Kamuzu Barracks FC and Moyale Barracks FC, a run that has left them languishing second from the bottom.
Creck has conceded seven goals and scored only three goals. Prior to its recent loss against Moyale FC , Creck suspended head Coach Eliya Kananji together with his assistant coach Hary Saidi .
The team's management said in a statement issued on May 17 , 2026, that ; " Creck Sporting Club would like to inform the general public that it has suspended head coach Eliya Kananji and Assistant Coach Harrison Saidi with immediate effect."
However, Kananji's phone went unanswered when we sought an immediate comment.
Ekhaya FC registers the second win after sending the coach to exile
The Cowboys of Blantyre have now registered their second win after a disappointing start to the campaign, in which they managed only one draw and suffered two defeats in their opening three games.
On Saturday, the team danced at Champions stadium after defeating Kamuzu Barracks to stockpile three points and paint a different picture.
They had also defeated Moyale Barracks at Mpira stadium. The team has since suffered defeats from Eagles and Civil , drawing 1-1 to red Lions. They now sit in the sixth position with 7 points.
The club's Head Cach Enos Chatama is still on administrative leave over poor results.
Reports indicate he was given time away from active duties, with the club bringing in technical staff, including Fundi Akidu as an interim coach.
Masters stay perched at the top with a single loss
Masters FC utilised last week's defeat to ganner momentum and bounce back with a 4-0 victory over Dedzs Dynamos under the lights of Bingu stadium on Sunday to go at the summit of the table.
The team has so far gathered 12 points from five matches against Chitipa United , Karonga United and Luanar Mitundu FC. Their only loss emanated from an under the sun clash against Silver strikers FC at Silver Stadium last week.
In an interview after the triumph against Dedza Dynoms , Masters FC head coach Peter Mponda said the boys were picking up.
"Even though we are trying, we still need to do more," said Mponda.
Karonga, Mafco FC registers their first win
Karonga United, which recently struggled to find form, registered its first win against Civil Service United yesterday.
The win throws them into 12th position with five points and four goals.
The team led by Audral Makonyola has initially managed two draws against Kamuzu Barracks, and MAFCO FC. They have since suffered a 2-1 defeat to Masters FC at home.
On the other hand, Mafco FC tasted victory after five matches. The team destroyed the northern region outfit Chitipa united (2-0) on Saturday, at their own back yard to move three steps ahead to position 10 with six points.

Bankers, Nomads stuck
Silver strikers and bankers also had a head on collision on Sunday in a goalless draw at Zomba stadium.
Both bankers and Wanderers were coming from fourth week victories but held each other until the last whistle.
The draw has pushed bankers second from the summit while wanderers stand on position seven with 9 points from five matches, having scored 9 goals and conceded only two. The Bankers, alongside Masters FC, are the only ones who have scored more goals this far.
Coming from a triumph against Mitundu Baptist, where they scored two goals, the Nomads secured wins over Creck Sporting (2-1), Mitundu (2-0) and a defeat to Bullets.
They are 7th with 6 points, but they have a game in hand after their opening match was postponed against Karonga.
A twist of Ears between Eagles and Bullets
Blue Eagles and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets locked horns and neither gave away.
The match ended 1-1, and both teams moved downwards with an inch. Blue Eagles stand third while Bullets come fifth.
The Area 30 police headquarters has won matches against Silver Strikers, Dedza Dynamos, and Ekhaya FC, with their only defeat coming against Chitipa United away. The team under Declerk Msakakuona has scored six goals and conceded three.
Conversely ,Bullets have recorded victories over Mighty Wanderers (2-1) and Mafco FC (1-0) while drawing against Red Lions (0-0) and Civil Service United (2-2).
Just like Eagles, the Palestinians have scored six goals and conceded four.
Analysts visualize tough Competition
Sports analysts are of the view that the flow of the league signifies a tough competition this season.
In an interview Sports Analyst Henry Gome said the early results forecast a competitive season.
"This shows that the teams are playing tactical football. It is no longer the battle of three or four teams. Now every team is scary," he said.
Similary, Humdan Nyirongo warned that the premiership would be competed by both teams.
He said ; "This season will be a very great season. Notably Bullets, Silver and Nomads would compete. But even the teams that are considered small will be in the race."
