Mighty Wanderers will hold off on releasing players until the club's technical panel completes a final squad assessment ahead of the 2025 football season.
Club CEO Panganeni Ndovi acknowledged that with new signings arriving, some departures are inevitable. However, he emphasized that any decisions will be based on the outcome of the ongoing evaluation.
The Nomads have been the most active club in Malawi during the current transfer window, focusing on strengthening their squad rather than selling players.
They have brought in five new signings and expect to offload a similar number to balance the squad before the season kicks off next month.
So far, the only confirmed departure is goalkeeper William Thole, whose contract expired. However, sources indicate that attacker Misheck Botomani and midfielder Balikinho Mwakanyongo are likely to exit, while Francisco Madinga has already returned to his former club, FC Dira Gori in Georgia.
Ndovi revealed that further departures could follow, but the club's new technical panel, led by Wanderers legend Bob Mpinganjira, is carefully evaluating the squad before making final recommendations.
“We expect to release a few players to accommodate the new arrivals, but we won’t rush the process. The technical team is assessing the squad, and only after that will we determine who stays and who leaves,” Ndovi said.
Among the new signings are goalkeeper Chancy Mtete from Mzuzu City Hammers, defender Masiya Manda from Civil Service United, midfielder Nanison Mbewe from Karonga United, and strikers Blessings Mwalilino and Promise Kamwendo from Karonga United and Dedza Dynamos respectively.
As the countdown to the 2025 season kickoff next month continues, all eyes will be on Wanderers’ final squad decisions.
