Man Arrested for Burglary and Theft in Thyolo

A 30-year-old man, Steven Suta, has been arrested by police in Thyolo in connection with a burglary and theft incident that occurred between the night of March 30 and the early hours of March 31, 2026, at Magombo Village.

"The suspect allegedly broke into the residence of a Clinical Officer at Thyolo District Hospital, stealing items valued at K250,000," said Constable Blessing Keith Rabson, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Thyolo Police Station.

Rabson adds that the victim discovered the theft upon returning home and reported the matter to the police, leading to Suta's arrest.

Suta was found with the stolen items, including a mattress, hotplate, electric iron, clothing, and groceries, at his house. 

He has admitted to the crime and is currently in police custody, awaiting court appearance for Burglary and Theft, contrary to sections 309 and 278 of the Penal Code.

"The investigation is ongoing, and we urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities," Rabson said. 

Suta hails from Lipulo Village, Traditional Authority Nchilamwela in the district.
