The Ministry of Lands has donated four sets of computers worth K48 million to the Thyolo District Council’s Lands Department in an effort to improve land administration services in the district.
Speaking during the handover on Monday, Geospatial Information Management Officer, Zachariah Chapweteka, emphasized that the equipment was procured specifically for land-related tasks and should not be diverted to other council departments.
"These computers have specific software for land issues only. Please, other bosses, don't touch them," Chapweteka warned.
He further disclosed that staff in the Lands Department have already undergone training to ensure effective use of the systems.
He added, "All Lands Department employees have been trained to use the computers to provide faster and more accurate services."
Receiving the donation, Director of Finance at Thyolo District Council, Andrew Jafali, hailed the gesture as timely and aligned with modern administrative demands.
"The world is going digital, and this donation has come at the right time," said Jafali.
"This equipment will help improve land management issues and efficiency in service delivery."
The donation is part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Lands to modernize land governance and enhance public service delivery across Malawi.
