MP Kajomba Urges Beneficiaries to Use FISP Fertiliser Responsibly

Member of Parliament for Thyolo Mangunda–Khonjeni Constituency, has urged Farm Inputs Subsidy Programme (FISP) beneficiaries to make full use of the fertiliser they are receiving, stressing that proper utilisation is key to achieving household food security.

Legislator Hastings Kajomba, made the call on Saturday when new stocks of FISP fertiliser were offloaded at Mangunda market, marking a positive step in this year’s distribution exercise.

“They have to use it in their fields for them to harvest enough food for their own consumption,” Kajomba said, reminding farmers that the inputs are provided to boost productivity, not for resale.

He then issued a stern warning against vendors attempting to take advantage of the programme.

“Vendors are strictly not allowed to access fertiliser as it belongs to the poorest of the poor in the villages,” he emphasized.

Kajomba also called for strong collaboration between traditional leaders and market staff to ensure smooth and fair access for all rightful beneficiaries.

The MP expressed satisfaction with how the distribution exercise has begun in Mangunda, describing the process as orderly and well-received by beneficiaries.

“The exercise has started very well,” he added.
